AGIOS NIKOLAOS
From Riglia it is only a short drive along the main road to Agios Nikolaos, an attractive and unspoilt fishing village, where the harbour is lined with water front tavernas, cafes and bars and there are also mini markets and a pharmacy. Pantazi beach which is close to the plot is popular with swimmers and sunbathers. Along the coast to Stoupa and beyond there are a number of beaches, quiet bays and inlets which are ideal for a relaxing swim, as well as the two larger sandy beaches at Stoupa itself.
MANI
Mani is an area of outstanding natural beauty with magnificent coastal and mountain scenery and breathtaking sunsets. It is popular with walkers and cyclists, as well as with family holidaymakers and it attracts visitors throughout the year. Generally the winters are considerably warmer than in many parts of Greece and there are many warm sunny days even in the depths of winter.
THE PELOPONNESE
The Peloponnese is one of Europes most outstanding areas of natural beauty. The Mani in the southern Peloponnese, has stunning mountain and coastal scenery and is dotted with traditional villes where time seems to have stood still. There is an ample choice of sandy or rocky beaches, with crystal clear waters and many of which are still quiet and uncrosded, even in summer.
KALAMATA
It is about an hours drive from Agios Nikolaos to Kalamata, the regional capital, where the airport receives flights from many European destinations from May to the end of October. There is a regular express bus service from Kalamata to Athens and one bus per day which starts at Agios Nikolaos before going on to Kalamata. The completion of the new motorway has reduced journey times to Athens and it now takes about 2.5 hours from Kalamata by road, all of it motorway.
